Historical moment: Emeritus Professor single-handedly destroys AGW dogma

Harold Lewis is Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has sent a letter of resignation to Curtis G. Callan Jr, who is the President of the American Physical Society. By sending this momentous letter, Harold Lewis has single-handedly destroyed the towering pile of pseudo-science and religion that goes under the name "the AGW dogma". Fellow blogger Anthony Watts writes thus:
"This is an important moment in science history. I would describe it as a letter on the scale of Martin Luther, nailing his 95 theses to the Wittenburg church door. It is worthy of repeating this letter in entirety on every blog that discusses science."

Indeed, Harold Lewis's letter will prove just as important in the history of science as Martin Luther's 95 theses. This passage is particularly significant:

It is of course, the global warming scam, with the (literally) trillions of dollars driving it, that has corrupted so many scientists, and has carried APS before it like a rogue wave. It is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist. Anyone who has the faintest doubt that this is so should force himself to read the ClimateGate documents, which lay it bare.

And this one:
In the interim the ClimateGate scandal broke into the news, and the machinations of the principal alarmists were revealed to the world. It was a fraud on a scale I have never seen, and I lack the words to describe its enormity. Effect on the APS position: none. None at all. This is not science; other forces are at work.

As an Emeritus Professor, Harold Lewis can speak openly, unlike the thousands and thousands of scientists who are slaves under Mammon (i.e. government-funded research grants). His venerable age assures his wisdom and his uncorruptability. Just like Martin Luther saved us from the oppression and heresies of the Catholic Church and its evil Pope, Hal Lewis has saved us all from the oppression and heresies of the Global Warming Church and its fat and evil Al'Gore. The great AGW fraud is now collapsing in front of our very eyes, just like the Vatican once did!
Remember: it takes thousands of professors to build a scientific fraud-theory, but it only takes one to overthrow it.

Indeed, Harold Lewis's letter will prove just as important in the history of science as when Moses himself overthrew the Golden Calf. Yes, it is certainly not an overstatement to compare Harold Lewis to Moses. Or maybe David who single-handedly slew the Philistine giant Goliath with a stone from his sling.

recesserunt cito de via quam ostendisti eis feceruntque sibi vitulum conflatilem et adoraverunt atque immolantes ei hostias dixerunt isti sunt dii tui Israhel qui te eduxerunt de terra Aegypti

    Herr Baron,
One must tread carefully when invoking Luther. First, there is the danger of smashing one's thumb whilst nailing one's letter to the door of the Church of AGW. Second, there is the natural confusion one might make with the deeds of Lex Luther, a scientist of almost as much interplanetary renown as Dr. Lewis. Third, there is the somewhat disturbing historical issue that the good Luther was "in cloaca", or in 'the sewer', when he was inspired to argue that salvation is granted because of faith, not deeds.

Let us refrain from speculating what peculiar insight Herr Watt has into Dr. Lewis' condition when he was similarly inspired.

    Herr Baron,
Upon further review, one is tempted to compare the great and mighty Watt to Moses and the humble shepherd boy Goddard to David. Surely Goddard's sling is always at the ready, loaded with the pits of all those cherries he has so freshly picked.

  4. I'm pleased to see that at least you Professor Baron and Dr Watts agree with me on the seriousness of Dr. Lewis explosive resignation letter.

    I have compared it variously to being as momentous as the trail of damp slime left behind as the first organisms migrated from their ocean home to a new life on land;
as epoch making as Gutenberg accidentally stepping on a piece of parchment and noticing his muddy sole left a perfect and infinitely reproducible impression of the Nike swoosh, or perhaps even as earth shattering as that guy (he too may have been a JASON) who keyed .07734 into a calculator and noticed that if viewed upside down it said 'hello' - possibly the earliest example of A.I. that any ordinary person could hold, right there in their hand.

I'd estimate the already crumbling warmist dogma machine can only last a few more days after such an onslaught of weighty and wise opinion.

  5. If anyone could bring down the pack full of lies AGW hypothesis it could only be Emeritus Professor Harold Lewis. I have followed his career since I was a young boy (as many did and still do), wishing I could accomplish what he did as the most famous physicist ever. His title Emeritus Professor shows how he is more important then Einstein.

Only a retired nuclear physcist who worked for the defense industry could truly understand climatology.

Baron, now that the AGW hypothesis is dead and no thinking human can believe it any longer what will you bear your great intellect on next? Reason has won!

  6. We all know that there is natural variabillity in nature, as Lewis has pointed out so clearly. We see that high activety in the sun leads to higher temperatures, as well as low activity. Further a negative ENSO and a positive ENSO gives the same result. This negative focus on plant food as a the single contributor to a warmer planet is just plain ignorant.

  7. This is a momentous moment indeed. And we all know what happened after Luther: while the Catholics are still living in darkness and oppression, Luther's followers, True Christians like mysellf, have advanced in many ways. Just look at how widespread the acceptance of Creation Science is amongst Christians, while the Catholics are still believing in evilution. Similarly we, followers of Blog Professor Lewis, can now go beyond the dogma of "anthropoid" "global" "warming"

Good point, Anonymous. But if the so-called "climate scientists" would admit that there are other factors than CO2 that affect the climate, they would soon be out of funding. That's why they keep pretending that there is no sun, and no oceans, and no clouds and no under-water volcanoes and so on!

  9. This really is the final nail in the CAGW scam! When a retired professor in his dotage and completely without Alzheimers or Mad Cow Disease denouces the lies of the Americihonian Pissing Sophomores then no more need be said.
SCEINTISTS YOUR SCAM IS WELL AND TRULY DEAD!!

    Herr Baron,
And while we are busy overthrowing scientific dogma and sweeping out the old ways, this is the next big thing.

A True Reformation sweeps clean, I say!

  11. Very interesting link, ID. But of course nothing news for those of us who are well acquainted with the latest Creation Science. Now it's only waiting for the moment those "sceintists" will discover the Earth is flat and not a sphere!

    Ionic disturbances,
It is my personal opinion that there is a strong case for a spherical Earth, but it would be wrong to dismiss dissenting opinions out of hand. If we do that, then our science has turned into rigid dogma. Yes, then it has become a religion! After all, maybe these flat Earth proponents are actually the next Galileos. Therefore I welcome an open discussion about the uncertainty regarding the shape of the Earth!

    MightyDrunken,
I think that one important peice of scientific dogma that is not suffiently questioned is the so-called periodic table. Do we really need som many elements? It it really useful for anything? And why do different renderings of the periodic table use different colour schemes? I find that highly suspicious.

  14. So stop pacing the aisles cheap fifa 14 coins and counting the miles. Instead, climb more fifa 14 coins mountains, eat more ice creams, go barefoot more often, swim more rivers, watch more sunsets, laugh more and cry less. Life must be lived as we go along. Then the station will come soon cheap fifa 14 coins enough.
